Have you ever participated in a team building event?

My guess is that you’ve been part of at least one during your career. Furthermore I would guess that you although the event may have had some initial positive influence on how your team collaborated, over the long the event and it’s impact slowly faded.

In my experience this happens all the time, yet we keep returning to the idea that “team building” will resolve our employee motivation and morale problems.

This is the wrong perspective.

As a business owner or executive, in order to get the most from your employees you need to give them a reason to show up, get involved and contribute.

It’s for this reason that a forming a community is a more powerful and sustainable approach, resulting in the desire of employees to contribute and to make the working environment better.

Not sure what I mean by “community?” Then take a few minutes to watch this brief video and learn ideas to help you form your own employee community.

I would love to hear from you, so feel free to take a minute and send me other examples of how you have formed your own employee community, and the powerful benefits you’re achieving.
